Kate Guion

Residential Counselor/Therapeutic Recreation Module Leader

Kate graduated from American University’s College of Arts and Sciences, Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in Public Health and Psychology.  While at AU, Kate hosted a weekly radio show for the campus station, WVAU, and was active in Chi Alpha Campus Ministries.  During the summer of her junior year, Kate worked in Washington, DC for the National Park Service as an intern in the Office of Risk Management.  She also has years of experience as an in-home caregiver to a senior woman with Alzheimer’s.

Enthusiastic and a team-oriented hard-worker, Kate’s interest in psychology and mental well-being began when she was 14 and volunteered at High Horses, a therapeutic riding center in Norwich, VT.  While at High Horses, she witnessed the remarkable benefits of incorporating animals, nature and art into treatment and management – and was influenced to pursue both her degree in psychology and a residential staff position at Mountain Valley.
