Benoit Denizet-Lewis, author of the October 15th New York Times Magazine article on adolescent anxiety that featured Mountain Valley, was the keynote speaker at two recent New York City receptions hosted by MVTC.

At a luncheon located at The Princeton Club, Mr. Denizet-Lewis spoke at a “Lunch and Learn” for clinical professionals and school counselors from greater Manhattan.  That same evening, again at The Princeton Club, Mr. Denizet-Lewis spoke passionately about Youth & Anxiety: The Kids Who Can’t to a roomful of Mountain Valley parents – past, current and prospective – the second time we have hosted a NYC parent event.  Drawing upon his yearlong experiences observing and interviewing MVTC staff and residents, Benoit shared, at both events, insights into his writing of the article that went on to become the most read New York Times Magazine article of 2017, and answered questions about what he learned about school and social avoidant adolescents as seen through the eyes of a journalist.

Both events were extremely well-attended and well-received.  We thank Mr. Denizet-Lewis for all that he has done to make literally millions of readers aware of the challenges facing adolescents suffering from debilitating anxiety – and for being such a supportive friend of Mountain Valley.  We also thank the many who attended these two extremely successful events, especially those parents who continue to be so supportive of MVTC.
