Michael Sanders, M.S., is a psychology intern joining Mountain Valley Treatment Center while completing his final year of doctoral training in Child Clinical Psychology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Delaware and completed his doctoral requirements at the Pennsylvania State University. He has experience providing evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy services in community mental health settings and schools through training programs at the Pennsylvania State University Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic and the State College Area School District. He has experience working with a variety of mental health problems and particularly enjoys working with children and adolescents with anxiety, depression, and OCD.
Throughout his training, Michael has been interested in children’s social-emotional development, school readiness, and school-based prevention efforts aimed at reducing later mental and physical health problems associated with experiences of early adversity. His research serves to better understand how early intervention can influence the healthy childhood and adolescent development of children’s social and emotional competencies.
