_dsc0147Weekends at Mountain Valley are devoted to off-campus exposure opportunities that combine purposeful adventure, culture, and fun.  Saturdays are typically brimming with adventure-based programming, and residents may get up at sunrise and head, with fly rod in hand, to an on-campus trout stream – a skill they may have acquired the week prior in their Adventure Wellness Module.  After lunch, residential faculty and students alike could head to Dartmouth College for a football and field hockey game, hike a portion of the nearby Appalachian Trial, or experience the thrill of white water rafting.  On Sundays we focus on more cultural programming, and residents and staff might travel to Manchester for a performance of Cirque du Soleil, or Boston for a day at the Museum of Science, Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail.  Such trips and activities help to empower our teenagers to rediscover a social life devoid of the powerful grip of adolescent anxiety.
