A Culture of Giving
Thank you for considering a gift to the Mountain Valley Treatment Center! Unlike most programs of our kind, Mountain Valley is a registered 501 (c)(3). As a non-profit entity, we appreciate, and depend on, the generous tax-deductible support of thoughtful members of the Mountain Valley family.
Since our founding in 2011, Mountain Valley has received financial support from many various sources – former residents, their parents, their grandparents, our friends, and foundations. Such support has helped to keep the Mountain Valley experience vibrant, vital, and, in the case of donations earmarked for scholarships, significantly more affordable. We are fortunate, and grateful, for the fact that so many individuals have deemed Mountain Valley worthy of their annual support. Our development efforts are currently focused on raising funds for need-based financial assistance as well as unrestricted donations that can be earmarked to areas of need within the program. We look forward to working with you to find ways in which your giving has the greatest impact on both you and Mountain Valley.
We thank you, in advance, for your enthusiastic support of the Mountain Valley Treatment Center.
Sincerely,
Carl J. Lovejoy, Co-founder, Director of Development and Alumni Relations

Make a Gift to The Don Vardell Scholarship Fund
Established in September 2020, The Don Vardell scholarship fund provides need-based financial aid to those families who, without such assistance, would not be able to send their children to Mountain Valley.
Don Vardell was a legend at Mountain Valley, and beyond. While he accomplished much during his years of leadership at MVTC, he was always disappointed when we had to turn away a family for whom we were cost prohibitive. It is appropriate, therefore, that a fund for financial aid has been established in Don’s name with the intention that Mountain Valley will be able to serve even more students suffering from debilitating anxiety, OCD and depression.
Make an Unrestricted Gift
Unrestricted gifts are flexible donations that Mountain Valley can allocate to any aspect of program operations. These donations allow Mountain Valley the autonomy to strategically direct funds where they are needed most, enabling us to adapt to changing circumstances and ensuring the long-term stability of the program, so we can continue to serve our mission effectively.

Make a Planned or Estate Gift
Planned gifts reflect the values of both the donor and MVTC. Donors may make an unrestricted gift (allowing Mountain Valley to determine how to apply the resulting funds) or choose to support a specific area of need. Our staff will work with you to identify a project or priority that embodies your philanthropic goals.
The Pike and Plainfield Society recognizes those members of our community who make a bequest or planned gift, expanding opportunities for future generations of MVTC residents and staff.
With gifts of all sizes, members of The Pike and Plainfield Society honor and sustain the mission of Mountain Valley and inspire others to support us. Like the MVTC’s founders, theirs is a legacy with continuing impact. We are honored to represent their philanthropic priorities in perpetuity, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to assume that trust and responsibility.
