Expanding our campus to help more young people fear less and live more.
Mountain Valley is investing in what has always made us exceptional: our people and our community.
A new home for adolescents. A stronger future for our therapeutic community.
For more than 15 years, Mountain Valley has helped adolescents and young adults overcome anxiety, OCD, and related disorders by building something far more important than a treatment program: a community. Every day, young people learn to face their fears alongside peers, supported by compassionate staff who believe courage grows through connection.
As Mountain Valley has grown, one thing has become increasingly clear: our campus must grow with us. The proposed new adolescent dormitory will provide a modern, purpose-built home for our adolescent residential program while creating new opportunities to strengthen our campus, expand our services, and serve more young people and families in the years ahead.
This is more than a building project. It is an investment in the future of Mountain Valley and the people whose lives will be changed here for generations to come.

More Than a New Building
The new dormitory represents the next step in Mountain Valley’s evolution. Designed specifically for adolescent residential treatment, it will bring all adolescent residents together under one roof in a comfortable, thoughtfully designed environment that promotes connection, independence, safety, and everyday therapeutic living.
By moving our adolescent community into one unified residence, we will also create opportunities across the rest of campus. Existing buildings can be thoughtfully repurposed for clinical offices, staff workspaces, therapeutic programming, and future expansion.
Rather than building somewhere else, we have chosen to invest here at home in Plainfield. We believe this campus still holds tremendous potential to grow into something even more impactful for the young people and families we serve.
Highlights
- One unified adolescent residential community
- Twelve modern resident bedrooms
- Spacious common areas designed for connection and daily living
- Dedicated fitness and wellness space
- Modern building systems and infrastructure
- Approximately 7,650 square feet across three levels*
*Final building specifications are subject to design completion.
Our Vision
When people reflect on their time at Mountain Valley, they rarely begin by talking about the buildings. They talk about the friendships they formed. They remember staff members who believed in them when they could not believe in themselves. They describe a community where facing fear became possible because they were never doing it alone.
Again and again, we hear from residents, families, alumni, employees, and referring professionals that our community is what makes Mountain Valley different.
As we looked toward the future, we considered many possibilities for expanding our impact, including opening programs on entirely new campuses. Ultimately, we decided that our greatest opportunity was not somewhere else. It was right here.
We believe our Plainfield campus can become an even more vibrant therapeutic community, bringing together adolescents, young adults, families, clinicians, and mental health professionals around a shared mission: helping people fear less so they can live fuller, more meaningful lives.
The new dormitory is the foundation for that vision.
As this project creates additional space across campus, we hope to continue growing Mountain Valley’s impact through future initiatives such as:
- A residential treatment program for young adults
- Outpatient and day services for members of our local community
- Expanded training opportunities for mental health professionals
- New spaces that strengthen collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence
Our long-term goal is ambitious but simple: to become the world’s leading therapeutic community for helping anxious young people and their families become more courageous, more connected, and more meaningfully engaged in life.
Project Status
Planning for the new dormitory is well underway.
Mountain Valley is currently completing architectural design, advancing planning with the Town of Plainfield, and preparing for construction. Our goal is to break ground in the spring of 2027.
As the project moves forward, we will continue sharing updates with our community and supporters.
