EDUCATION

  • Ithaca College – MS, Occupational Therapy
  • Ithaca College – BS, Occupational Therapy

Dara earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy from Ithaca College. After completing her graduate training, she pursued specialty certification in ergonomics and began her career working primarily with older adults in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted-living communities. Her early clinical foundation in geriatrics shaped her skill in ADL assessment, routine building, and meeting clients with warmth and precision exactly where they are.

Even with a strong background in geriatric care, Dara always felt drawn to the heart of mental health work—a passion that began during her undergraduate fieldwork. After several years working in high-productivity medical settings, she was ready for a meaningful shift back to authentic therapeutic engagement. With encouragement from a close OT colleague at Mountain Valley, she shadowed the milieu and immediately knew she had found the right fit.

At Mountain Valley, Dara cherishes the opportunity to practice what she describes as “real OT”—work rooted in presence, connection, and deep functional change. She loves supporting residents in rebuilding routines, strengthening self-efficacy, and reconnecting with the activities that bring purpose and grounding. She speaks often about how fulfilling it is to contribute to the program’s mission and to be part of a collaborative, compassionate clinical team.

Originally from Nyack, New York, Dara spent six years in Ithaca before relocating to New England. She and her husband moved from Nashua to Springfield, New Hampshire, where they recently purchased their first home. Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, mindfulness practices, and a wide range of arts and crafts. At home, she can usually be found spending time with her two beloved cats and exploring the natural beauty of New Hampshire and Vermont.
