Residential Counselor/Activity Therapy Module Leader
Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 credits in the areas of human services or 2 years of professional direct child care responsibilities (includes teaching) or seven years of parenting experience or demonstrated experience working with adolescents. Excellent professional boundaries and a customer-centered, team member work style.

Overnight Residential Counselor
Our client population typically presents with school avoidance, socially isolating behaviors and has withdrawn from the family. We provide a holistic approach to treatment with an evidenced based foundation using Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy and a unique blend of experiential modules including mindfulness, farm to table, adventure, community service, academics and fitness.
We are looking for professional and caring individuals who can stay awake and maintain a safe and supportive environment throughout the overnight hours in the residential dormitories. Responsibilities also include supporting residents with their morning and evening routines, medication administration, maintaining dorm cleanliness, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed. Additionally, preparing the breakfast meal per the approved menu and coordinating a smooth transition with the day staff each morning and evening is required. Overnight Residential Counselors will enjoy learning and collaborating with the rest of our highly skilled and dynamic residential and clinical teams. This is a great opportunity to grow and gain valuable training within the human services field. Clinician
Mountain Valley Treatment Center is the leading residential short-term treatment program in the country for adolescents who struggle with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and related disorders. We provide a great workplace, especially for those who want to change lives, have fun, and grow professionally as part of a world-class interdisciplinary treatment team.
Located in Plainfield, NH, on the Connecticut River, our campus—a former five-star inn—is a warm, comforting, homelike place where adolescents can safely overcome their struggles with anxiety and reengage life. We utilize the latest evidence-based practices—including ERP and CBT—and provides short term care for clients from all over the world. Our clinical work is complemented by therapeutic recreation and mentoring from our residential counselors and occupational therapists. This comprehensive approach helps young people heal, rediscover their gifts, and engage life with renewed zest and confidence.
Our therapists work as part of a supportive treatment team that includes a Clinical Director, psychotherapists, psychiatrist, occupational therapists, residential counselors and nurses. This supportive, interdisciplinary team approach is an excellent way to build clinical skills and expertise. For those pursuing licensure, we provide free clinical supervision and excellent specialty training.
Clinicians provide clinical services to a caseload of 3-5 residents during a 90 day stay. Clinical duties include: providing individual, family, and group therapy; developing and revising treatment plans; coordinating care within the program, communicating with external provides, collateral, contacts; and working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Mountain Valley primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders.
Qualifications: Masters degree required. Experience providing CBT and exposure therapy for OCD and anxiety disorders preferred. Licensed clinician preferred but not required. Passion for working with adolescents and young adults required. Experience working with adolescents and young adults preferred. Experience treating anxiety and related disorders is preferred. Experience implementing treatment modalities such as CBT, ERP, ACT, and DBT are preferred. Experience working in a residential setting is preferred.

Residential Counselor Internship
Our summer internship program is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to work as members of our residential team as a residential counselor. Residential counselors are the primary care givers in our program who are responsible for supporting residents’ daily living (sleep, nutrition, exercise, etc.), facilitating their therapeutic activities, and helping residents in achieve their therapeutic goals by integrating clinical modalities into their daily lives. As a residential counselor, you will be fully immersed in the daily milieu experience. You can expect to learn about the clinical treatment of anxiety and OCD, develop clinical skills to apply in real-world situations, and experience firsthand what it is like to change the lives of youth suffering from mental health challenges.
Our internship program offers full-time pay and an opportunity to remain as a per-diem staff member after the summer months have ended. Staff receive fresh-cooked, farm-to-table meals prepared by our chef while on shift. Our interns will rotate through our various residential shifts which include days, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications: Must have a strong interest in psychology, sociology, education, human services or related field. Excellent professional boundaries and a customer-centered, team member work style. Must have valid driver’s license and be 21 years old (due to our licensing requirements).
